Account Director & Strategist B2B (Remote)
Job Description:
About Takeoff
Takeoff is a growth agency that helps B2B companies scale through web design, development, SEO, and paid media. We're building out the strategic consulting layer of the agency, combining channel execution with the kind of business-level thinking most agencies skip entirely.
Our team of 23 works on sophisticated projects for mid-market B2B and SaaS clients. The kind of work that challenges you, expands your skillset, and looks incredible in your portfolio.
The Role
We're hiring an Account Director & Strategist to own client relationships and go-to-market strategy for B2B companies. This is not a channel execution role. You're the person clients trust to tell them where to invest their marketing budget, why, and what to expect.
Most agencies are incentivized to push spend. A Google Ads agency will always recommend Google Ads. An SEO shop will always recommend SEO. We're different. If a client's buyers operate through trade shows, referrals, and long enterprise sales cycles, you'll tell them that and recommend a channel mix that actually fits their business, even if it means less spend in the short term.
You'll report directly to the Founder/CEO and work alongside a team of 23 across paid media, SEO, web, and content. This role is central to where Takeoff is headed: an agency that leads with strategy and backs it with execution, not the other way around.
This is a full-time (40 hrs/week) remote role open to candidates based in the US or Canada.
What You'll Do
- Own B2B client relationships end-to-end, serving as the primary strategic point of contact
- Lead discovery sessions to understand each client's business model, sales cycle, competitive landscape, and growth goals
- Build go-to-market strategies that recommend the right mix of channels (paid media, organic, SEO, web, content) grounded in business objectives, not platform defaults
- Present strategy and performance at the C-level, tying marketing activity back to the metrics that matter: acquisition cost, qualified pipeline, revenue
- Identify upsell and expansion opportunities based on actual client needs, not quota pressure
- Coach execution team members on connecting tactical work to business outcomes
- Collaborate with internal teams across paid media, SEO/AEO, web, and content to ensure strategy translates into delivery
- Create SOPs, playbooks, and templates
- Actively evaluate and adopt AI-powered tools for the execution team's workflow — we want someone who's always testing new tools and integrating the ones that work
Required Experience
- 5+ years of B2B agency experience in a client-facing strategic role (account director, strategist, or similar). You've owned the client relationship, not just supported it
- Cross-channel strategic fluency. You understand how paid media, organic/SEO, website, and content work together and can confidently recommend where a client should invest, and where they shouldn't
- Experience with clients investing $250K-$500K+ per year in marketing (including ads, web, and content). You're comfortable in rooms where the budget is real and the expectations match
- Client retention and C-level presentation track record. You've kept clients, grown accounts, and presented strategy and performance to CMOs and VPs who ask hard questions
- B2B demand generation depth. You know how LinkedIn Ads, ABM, paid search, SEO, and content marketing fit into a B2B buyer's journey and can build a strategy that uses the right combination for each client
- SaaS or B2B tech vertical experience. You understand long sales cycles, multi-touch attribution, and why marketing for enterprise B2B is fundamentally different from DTC or e-commerce
- AI-forward — you're already using AI tools in your workflow and regularly testing new ones. You can name specific tools you've adopted or rejected and explain why.
Nice-to-Have
- In-house B2B marketing experience in addition to agency background
- Experience building out new agency offerings and services
Location/Timezone Requirements:
- Location: Remote (US, Canada or Europe)
- Time Zone: Must have at least 5 hours overlap with EST/EDT for client meetings and team collaboration
